Andrew Front Awa - Artist statement 2008

“To me, all art forms flow together as streams of one great river, leading to the ocean of the entirety of all that exists.  I can no more separate painting from dancing, or writing from singing, than I can separate my heartbeat from breathing.  All artistic gifts have been given to us by God to continue as co-creators in this magnificent masterpiece called Planet Earth, and to spread love and light to every dark corner. The joy and peace I have been given cannot be expressed by only one style of art.  I may be painting a realistic piece and, a moment later, abstract flows from the same brush.  While painting, I am often inspired to write a song, or dance before my creator.  Just as God did not stop with only one style or series of art, neither am I able to….
In my brief time here on the planet, I have been through many trials, tribulations, ups, and downs, and have come to the conclusion that I have not come to any conclusion.  There have been times in my life when I stood secure and solid in my knowledge and wisdom…even times that I believed I had the answers for other people…those times have blown away like the fluffy seeds of a dandelion.  The fields of my heart and mind remain open for new flowers to grow, as I continue to open myself to the Great Spirit.  My true desire is to be an open vessel and a channel of love and light to this world.
I view the gifts that I have received as just that…gifts…and I believe these gifts have been given, and are being given through me, to all of mankind.  I am honored and excited daily that I get to enjoy the journey of discovery, as new works of art come through my hands.
